Chief Commercial Director

Jeremy has spent nearly 20 years managing, leading, founding and growing marketing agencies. He started his career in the hybrid world of charity marketing at Barnardo Publications, the mail order arm of Barnardo's which he says “was a wonderful personal playground as I was able to learn about direct marketing, customer services, fulfilment processes, warehousing and IT”. He was poached to transfer the success of Barnardo's to Oxfam Trading, and after a few years there he was invited by Oxfam Trading's direct marketing agency, Smith Bundy & Partners, to become their MD. After 12 years of building Smith Bundy into one of the most respected and successful agencies in the UK, Jeremy sold the business to Carlson, becoming Managing Director of Carlson. This became an agency of over 200 people. Jeremy went on to rebuild Cordiant's 141 Communications agency, bringing in Paul Kitcatt. In 2001 he introduced “the three smartest and nicest people I've ever worked with” to each other: Paul Kitcatt, Vonnie Alexander and Marc Nohr, and suggested they start an agency. Jeremy chairs Kitcatt Nohr’s board and oversees the operational side of the business.

Director of Professional Development

Patrick started his career in 1988 at Generator, a sister agency of Yellowhammer, as a router, which mostly involved running up and down stairs. Within two years he was promoted to account director proving that leg work is essential in building a successful career. In 1994 he moved to Bates as a group account director in the direct marketing arm, and then in 1997 onto The Open Agency (part of AMV), as Client Service Director. In 1999 Patrick moved to independent agency HDM where he helped launch Flybe and learned to drive a tractor with Massey Ferguson. He was also part of the team that created the new integrated agency, SOUK, where he was joint managing director. Throughout his career in advertising Patrick invested a lot of time in the people and coordinated inventive training programmes, frequently on a shoestring. It is this (together with the amazing catering at the IPA) that encouraged Patrick to take up his current post at the IPA.
