Chinese brand owners have big opportunities to export their brands globally and the UK can help them conquer the world. 67% of international advertising agency networks already have their European headquarters in London and more US brands use the UK as a springboard to the rest of the world than any other market. 80% of international campaigns managed by UK agencies are created by the UK for the rest of the world. By 2012, 50% of UK agency clients will come from outside the UK including China.
This is the message a 30-strong delegation of advertising and production companies from the IPA and APA, with the backing of the UK government, have taken to Beijing this week, to host a two-day Beijing London Advertising Forum on why the UK is a gateway for Chinese expansion globally, and why China is such a key market.
Organised by the IPA and the APA, the forum will bring together Chinese and UK brand owners, advertising agencies and production companies, providing an opportunity to create international partnerships in the areas of branding, advertising, export marketing and business growth.
Ad agencies in the delegation include BBH, JWT, M&C Saatchi and Profero, production companies include Crossroads Films, Marshall Street Editors, Passion Pictures and Smoke and Mirrors.
Says Janet Hull, Marketing Director, IPA, “At a time of high growth for the Chinese economy the UK is delighted to be in the position to discuss Chinese brand opportu-nities with advertisers and agencies in Beijing. We hope this will be the beginning of productive dialogue. London is well placed to act as a creative hub to the world for China. The UK and London in particular is a centre of advertising excellence.”
