Every decade for the last two decades the IPA commissions a study on the key issues affecting the workplace. In previous decades (1990 and 2000) the focus was Women in Advertising report. For 2010 we want to go broader; to look beyond the original specific female target group and explore the future of and the structure of work generally. With the IPA’s People Management Group, the IPA’s Professional Development Group and Training Forum will be involved. The research will look at Gen Y; both genders; and life stage; and will acknowledge how the business is changing and the pressures that impact throughout the course of a person’s working life. Managing talent is crucial and as the people who will inherit and lead our industry over the next ten years, Gen Y are a key voice in our overall conversation around “developing talent in a more connected world”.
The aim of this project is to produce a vibrant piece of research which the industry can act on and take guidance from.
The output will be a robust written report, to be published by the IPA, in the autumn that covers digital, creative and media agencies. The initial findings will be launched at a joint conference with the charity Working Families, which is expert in workplace issues on 6th July with the main report revealed at the annual IPA HR Conference on September 6th.
For this piece of research we need to get the thoughts and experiences of as broad a range of people as possible and we are looking for participants within their first three years of agency experience.
We would like you to join us in an interactive and creative session where we would like you to create the agency you would want to lead in the year 2020. No one can predict what the world will be like by then but we would like you to get together to think about how we should design our work, our careers and our organisations in the future. Your thoughts and ideas will be part of the stimulus for policy discussions in the spring with our agencies current leaders and those responsible for developing talent today. This is a once in a decade opportunity to think deeply about where you think our industry should be heading.
Paul Hancock, Communications Strategy Director at Starcom MediaVest will lead the event with Working Families in attendance.
