What exactly are people doing when they are online? How does it differ by time of day? Are they online at the same time as watching television?  What percentage of News of the World readers go shopping on a Sunday? What type of people are using the new Video on Demand Services? How do people’s moods vary during the day? Does anyone get the time to do nothing anymore?

The answers to these questions and many more facts about how consumers spend their daily lives and how their media usage fits into these patterns will be revealed through the launch of the IPA’s new TouchPoints 3 survey on 22nd July.

Says Lynne Robinson, IPA Research Director: “The new survey will provide us with some fascinating trend data. We will be able to track the changes in consumers’ lives and how they are using an ever expanding range of communication channels from 2005 to now.”

Says Steve Williams, Chairman, IPA Media Futures Group and Chief Executive of OMD, “In this new world where consumers choose what they want, when they want and how they want it, if we do not understand the way in which they want to be reached then we’re doomed. TouchPoints give us this. It is the new benchmark in planning tools. The start point for the planning of any campaign. I would say: ignore it at your peril.”
