The Real Mad Men
On 29th March, Andrew Cracknell, author of recently published book, The Real Mad Men, will be interviewed by Sir John Hegarty on his personal experiences as an adman and the lessons we should all learn from the Mad Men era.
We can all learn from Andrew Cracknell’s 40 year career in advertising. As a former Creative Director for major international agencies including FCB, WCRS, APL and Bates; a regular writer for Campaign, Financial Times and to top it off an award winner at Cannes, D&AD, BTAA and Campaign, many would agree he is a veteran of the UK ad scene.
Madison Avenue during the 60s was renowned as advertising’s ‘Golden Age’ where agencies created the most radical and influential advertising ever. But how did it happen? What was it that made this era a golden age of advertising and was it really all that it appeared to be? Andrew Cracknell has spent two years finding out by interviewing ad legends of the Creative Revolution. In his book,
The Real Mad Men, Cracknell outlines why the 60’s were so successful; what we can learn from this decade and how we can apply these lessons to the future of our agencies.
