Rachel Murphy is the founding partner of RJM Consulting. Having previously worked for both blue-chip quoted companies and private equity businesses, she established her own consulting business to provide advisory services to Board-level executives of a wide range of companies.Typical projects include company valuations for acquisitions, fund-raising advice and corporate structuring for small and mid-cap companies.
Rachel also provides confidential,bespoke training, coaching and financial advisory services to the Boards of organisations which are high growth or which are experiencing a change in structure, size or ownership.
Her most popular programme is ‘Corporate Finance for Non-Finance Directors’. According to Professor Richard Jolly of London Business School she is “by far the best I has ever seen on this; she makes it all crystal clear”.
She is frequently called in to coach Directors who have just been appointed a Board or who are preparing to embark on a major transaction.
Rachel has 25 years of business experience. She was previously a member of the investment team at Alchemy Partners, a leading UK buy-out firm. She was responsible for transacting a wide range of deals in the mid-cap market, with a focus on public-to-private transactions and turnaround situations.
She has extensive experience as a Non-Executive Director of several private-equity businesses including Industrial Control Services plc (industrial electronics and safety systems), Centric Telecom Ltd and Just Learning Ltd.
She was also Non-Executive Chairman of Right4Staff Ltd, a £100m turnover staffing business. She is currently on the Board of Riverside Studios.
Prior to her work at Alchemy, she held financial advisory roles in both Royal Dutch Shell plc and Diageo plc, with experience in both corporate mergers and acquisitions and also organisational cost-cutting and restructuring.
Rachel has a degree in Engineering, Economics and Management from Oxford University and is a qualified accountant.
