The IPA is launching its first Graduate Recruitment Fair this month, to educate students on the wide variety of careers on offer within the industry. The initiative is aimed at students who might not have considered a job in adland before and will put agencies in direct contact with some of the top talent of the future.
09/02/2012
Over 20 IPA member agencies, small, medium and large, will be exhibiting at the fair to showcase that in addition to well-known roles there are a whole range of jobs available which require new skills, including data analytics and data gathering, as the industry is seeking graduates from a wider selection of backgrounds and disciplines. These agencies include AIS, Arena Media, BBH, Crayon and Karmarama, Grey, Here and Now, LBi, MEC Global, Media Reach, MediaCom, MPG, Nexus and Omnicom Media Group.
Over 90 students will attend the Fair, including some recruited from a selection of top universities as part of the IPA and SEO London’s venture to encourage more people from ethnically diverse backgrounds into the industry, and others who have registered their interest on the IPA’s Talent Pool. Agencies will have the chance for one-to-one meetings and observational workshops with students and those that impress will be fast tracked for internship and graduate opportunities within the IPA’s member agencies and/or considered for a place on the 2012 IPA Ad School.
The Fair comprises two full-day sessions, the first (for final year students) on 10th February and the second (for 2nd year students) on 20th February. Speakers will include: I-Spy’s Chris Whitelaw, OMG’s Sam Phillips, VCCP’s Julian Douglas and Leo Burnett’s Marc Giusti. They will be discussing a variety of topics such as data-gathering and data analytics, communications and business strategy, and creativity and project management. Both sessions will be held at the IPA's Belgrave Square offices.
Says Janet Hull, Director of Marketing, IPA: “We hope that through this initiative we will be able to educate students on the breadth of jobs available in adland – not just the well-known roles such as planning and account management but also the range of jobs which require different skills, in order to create a highly diverse and super skilled work force of the future.”
There is still one speaker slot available for the session on 20th February. If you are a senior agency representative and would like to give a short presentation to second year university students on opportunities in project management and creativity, please contact Leila Siddiqi on 020 7201 8265 or Leila@ipa.co.uk
