Joint industry contracts

The IPA is a key player in the joint industry committees (JICs).

The IPA is a key player in the joint industry committees (JICs) that have been set up to track the performance of each of the advertising mediums:


ABC – The Audit Bureau of Circulations is the UK circulation auditing body for newspapers, magazines, exhibitions and databases. The IPA is represented on its Council and Working Parties.

ABC Electronic
– Provides independently audited internet traffic data using internationally agreed standards which have been approved by the IPA.


BARB
– The Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board provides the main source of television audience research in the UK and represents the major UK broadcasters (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, five, BSkyB) and the IPA. The IPA is represented at all levels and is able to offer a discount on BARB subscriptions to members.


JICIMS
– Joint Industry Committee for Internet Measurement Systems. The IPA is a shareholder of this group which is developing an audience­-centric measurement of the internet for the digital industry

JICPOPS
– Joint Industry Committee for Population Statistics. The IPA is represented on the Board of JICPOPS.

JICREG
– The Joint Industry Committee for Regional Press Research provides information for regional and local newspapers and has a database of readership profiles for all areas of the UK, by postcode. The IPA is represented on the JICREG management and technical groups.

JICRIT
– Joint Industry Committee for Radio IT Futures. The IPA is a partner in this group which has developed electronic verification and messaging for the radio industry.

JICWEBS
– The Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards looks at web auditing. The IPA is represented on JICWEBS.


NRS
– The National Readership Survey provides readership data for newspapers and magazines, using methodology that is acceptable to both publishers or print media and media buyers. The IPA is represented at all levels and is able to offer a discount on NRS subscriptions to its members.


POSTAR
– Provides audience measurement for outdoor advertising. The IPA is represented at all levels and is able to offer a discount on POSTAR subscriptions.


RAJAR
– Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd is the radio industry’s audience research company which is jointly owned by the BBC and Radio Centre. The IPA is represented at all levels on RAJAR.
