Why use IPA agencies

To be a member of the IPA is the highest professional recognition that an advertising agency or marketing communications company can achieve.

Membership is open only to those who meet the following strict criteria:

  • professional competence in the eyes of peers, clients and suppliers
  • independence of both individual clients and media
  • commitment to the IPA's CPD programme and to meet it's ongoing certification criteria
  • proven financial stability, including at least two years trading
  • viable size (gross income over £400,000)
  • no recent history of insolvency or other voluntary financial arrangements or directors disqualifications
  • the upholding of legal and ethical standards, including the IPA Byelaws, British Codes of Advertising Practice and Sales Promotion, rulings of the Advertising Standards Authority, Independent Television Commission and Radio Authority.

Corporate membership of the IPA is by application and election, after the applicant agency has demonstrated that it meets the IPA criteria for membership.
