AdSchool - penultimate year students

The IPA AdSchool is a unique opportunity for penultimate year students to spend six weeks in three of the UK's top agencies, rotating fortnightly.

The IPA has been running work placements for students for eight years, but this year we've created a programme solely for penultimate year students. The AdSchool offers its students the chance to spend six weeks of summer exploring the clients, campaigns and cultures of three very different agencies, to allow them to find their perfect role in their perfect discipline.

Who are we looking for?

Advertising is one of the most dynamic and fast-moving sectors in the UK, employing over 250,000 people. Roles continue to evolve to better reflect the needs of a global digital economy and, as such, the industry is seeking graduates from a wider range of disciplines than ever before.

We’re looking for statisticians, mathematicians and computer scientists; network engineers and behavioural scientists; economists and econometricians; biologists, psychologists and sociologists; physicists, philosophers and linguists. We want creative writers, strategic thinkers, great relationship builders and those with an eye for design.

We aim to find the perfect people to fulfill your agency's individual needs.

The nitty-gritty

AdSchool students will take part in work experience in three allocated agencies, spending two weeks in each, learning all aspects of briefs, projects and pitches.

Applications are open from 3rd February – 28th March 2014.

The programme will run from 7th July – 15th August 2014.

Students will be provided with an agency mentor in each agency who will guide them through each two-week placement.

Students will attend evening seminars, providing them with the opportunity to network with agency heads and other participating students.

Participating agencies will repay any travel expenses reasonably and properly incurred by students during the work placement in travelling to and from the agency within travel zones 1-2 and travelling on agency business.

AdSchool students will receive a prize of £600 on successful completion of the programme.

The AdSchool is only open to students in their penultimate year of university study.

Please note: students are responsible for finding their own accommodation.
