The IPA and CRUK were proud to help honour Lucy Mosley at the 2014 AdAcademy graduation night last week at IPA headquarters in London.
The Lucy Mosley Award was inspired by our dear friend Lucy, who sadly passed away last November after discovering she had cancer just five weeks earlier.
Lucy was a bright star of the future. Head of Sales Marketing at Twitter UK aged just 29 years old, Lucy’s race to the top started from her home town of Christchurch in New Zealand.
As well as being an exceptional commercial marketeer for leading brands, Lucy often used her skills to raise funds for the charities she loved.
She ran an incredibly successful campaign following the earthquake that hit Christchurch and, in the weeks leading up to her passing, she raised over £42,000 for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) - beating her target by 850%.
As a way of keeping the legacy of Lucy alive, we wanted to create an award in her honour that would inspire other bright stars of the future.
Knowing the wonderful scheme that is the IPA AdAcademy and the willingness of CRUK to explore ever more creative ways to encourage people to donate, we approached them both to discuss a potential collaboration and the initiation of the ‘Lucy Mosley Award for Inspiring Creativity that Counts’.
CRUK would deliver a creative brief to AdAcademy’s 22 graduates and the winning team would take home the award. The concept worked for all parties, bringing additional prizes to IPA AdAcademy winners (along with publication of their work on Warc.com and beautiful pendant medals from fashion jewellery designer Nicholas King) as well as fresh creative ideas to CRUK.
Last Thursday evening at the IPA headquarters in Belgrave Square saw the presentation of five inspiring creative concepts for CRUK’s Race for Life. Each one was delivered to a very high standard and contained some wonderfully thought-provoking ideas.
Many congratulations to the winning team and to all the talented future bright stars we saw present at the IPA last week. It was a momentous occasion that we know Lucy would love to have been a part of.

The Lucy Mosley Award contains 29 stars, one for each year of Lucy’s life, and each winner’s pendant contains a single star that represents another future bright star within the industry.
Applications for the 2015 IPA AdAcademy will open later this year or early 2015, so keep checking back here and our trailblazing talent website AdMISSION!
