The Festival is new this year and will provide a platform for industry practitioners, students and the general public, to witness the best of the marketing sector through a series of events, exhibitions, discussions and debates, and to network with peers. The line-up comprises many leading industry players, such as: ITV, Sony Music, LoveFilm, RGA, Google, BBH, VCCP, Octagon, Analog Fold, Bacardi, Fosters, Blue State Digital, and more.
In amongst the many industry events, the IPA’s ‘Ads Game' will take place on Tuesday 24th August (18:40-19:30) and will involve a panel of comedians, including triple Edinburgh Awards nominee Russell Kane, taking a wry look at the weird and wonderful world of advertising. In a series of games, the panel will be asked to deduce what products are being advertised in some peculiar foreign ads and will be asked to come up with winning campaigns of their own, to sell the unsellable. This event will be sponsored by Drumond Park Games, manufacturers of the top selling LOGO board game.
Hamish Pringle, IPA Director General, will also be chairing a creativebrief panel session at 15.45 on 24th August, entitled 'The next decade in advertising: evolution or revolution?
Says Pringle: "The IPA has been working hard to position 'Adland' as one of the major entities within the creative industries, so we're delighted to be supporting the inaugural Edinburgh International Marketing Festival. Its thought-leading programme will sit very well with the astonishing array of musical, theatrical and artistic events on offer at the Edinburgh Festival itself and should lead to some exciting cross-fertilisation of ideas."
