16/07/2008Stage 1 Evening Series for Trainees 15 October - 19 November 2009
Objective
To broaden the horizons of trainees and give them an insight into the advertising business as a whole.
Benefits
. During the course of the six week series participants are exposed to thinking from practitioners representing all the major job functions in an agency.
. The opportunity to meet some of the rising stars in the industry, from a variety of agencies.
. Alerts participants to the issues they will have to tackle as they progress in their agencies, and to some of the hot topics currently under debate.
. Project work in teams gives delegates first hand experience of tackling advertising issues.
. Allows delegates to meet and work with their peers in agencies of all types: often the beginning of lifetime friendships.
Content
Though each series includes discussion of current topics, the core of the programme remains the same:
. At the start of the course the delegates will be put into teams from different agencies to work together rather than individually throughout the series.
. Every other week delegates will be set questions relating to the talk. The overall objective of this work is to get them to think further and in a more applied way about different aspects of the business they have joined.
. The more specific objective is to allow them to further consider and apply what they have just learnt. The delegates will be encouraged to work together over the next few weeks (in whatever way best suits them) and then to submit a team response to the problem posed every other week. Their responses will be judged by the course chairman and IPA team.
. The evenings will cover the major disciplines: planning, creative, media, account handling, dm, digital and integration and sharing the thinking behind well-known campaigns and revealing the processes involved.
. After the formal part of the evening there is an opportunity for participants to meet, socialise and catch up with their peers and to feel part of the industry.
Target
The series is aimed at new entrants to the agency world, regardless of disciplines and those switching roles within agencies.
Format
Starting mid October, one evening per week for six consecutive weeks.
