Founder

Sarah is Founder of Wordbird, a creative agency, specialising in health. Sarah is a graduate of King’s College London. She started her career at Luxford Advertising as a copywriter on Valentine’s Day 1990 – it was love at first write. After a short spell out of the advertising industry with the stop smoking charity, QUIT, Sarah joined Paling Ellis, (later Paling Walters and now TBWA/WorldHealth) becoming Copy Chief within a year. Sarah held this role for over 12 years. From 2006-2012 Sarah worked freelance, consulting for over 30 healthcare communications agencies. Sarah has worked for the vast majority of pharmaceutical company clients, across almost all therapeutic categories on some of the world’s most famous pharmaceutical brands. She has created campaigns for all health audiences. She regularly judges healthcare creative awards and sits on the PAGB Associate Member Committee. Sarah is passionate about giving young talent their break in creative healthcare communications and champions training and development for all. Sarah is married to her business partner, Creative Director, Andrew Nicholson and is mum to two (almost) grown-up sons.

Phil is Managing Director of CDM London, where he’s been since March of 2014. With a background in psychology, Phil started his advertising career with Grey Healthcare before moving to Ogilvy Healthworld, Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare and McCann Health. In his time Phil has worked with some major most of the major pharma companies across several major brands including Viagra, Nasonex, Crestor, Symbicort, Nexium and Humira in Rx, and Coca-Cola and J&J in consumer health. Phil believes passionately in the power of strong team dynamics – within the agency and between the agency and the client. Just because it’s called “work” doesn’t mean it shouldn’t also be fun.

Well known for his keynote appearances in industry forums, he truly believes that only strong, creative and credible ideas can produce great results. At Cuttsy and Cuttsy he sets the creative direction for all projects. Mathew is also a keen runner, father of two, likes to paint mainly acrylics and thinks he is a bit of a foodie.

Marketing Communities Manager (Maternity Leave)

Phillipa joined the IPA in September 2015 as Marketing Communities Manager. Prior to this she worked in the ad industry for six years at member agencies CHI & Partners, OgilvyOne and Fallon on campaigns for British Gas, TalkTalk, Scottish Power, Skoda and Debenhams. Famous campaigns include the X-Factor sponsorship idents. Phillipa graduated from Bournemouth University with an undergraduate degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications in 2008. At the IPA Phillipa looks after the groups and communities that support the IPA pillar strategy.
