Used by around 95% of members, the IPA Insight Centre provides research, analysis and statistics to help agencies with their new business pitches, campaign planning, competitor reviews, internal brainstorming and idea generation. The insights we deliver are supported by a suite of premium research tools that provide you with a true competitive advantage.
Who we are
The team is comprised of consumer research and industry specialists who possess many years' experience working directly with agencies and brands:
Damian Lord, who leads the team, has an extensive background in consumer insight, market research and trend forecasting, having previously worked for the likes of Foresight Factory (formerly Future Foundation) and SPA (Future Thinking), as well as consulting for bodies such as Visita Sevilla. He is responsible for driving new insight initiatives across our membership community and beyond.
Francesca Ashcroft spent 5 years honing her skills in the Knowledge Centre at Leo Burnett London before joining the IPA in June 2017. She started her insight career 9 years ago assisting on FOI and information enquiries for government departments such as DCLG and DfT. Francesca is our Insight Manager and as such is responsible for the day-to-day running of the team and our wider services.
Devki Patel is the team's senior analyst and produces our InTouch report series as well as managing our internal resource library and the insight website. She studied Human Geography at Queen Mary, University of London and also has experience in retail marketing and business development.
Jessica Poon produces our monthly infographics and is also an advisory lead on The AI Radar (new for Q1 2018). Additionally she works alongside the finance team on various IPA membership surveys. She joined the team in August 2016 after attaining a BA in the History of Art at the University of Cambridge. She has previous experience in PR, digital and film.
Isabelle Holmes heads up the team’s Audience and Regional Profile publications. She joined the team in September 2017 after obtaining a degree in Modern Languages and European Studies from the University of Bath, through which she also spent time working in Santiago, Chile as a market analyst for an international trade consultancy.
How we can help
Our insights are driven by premium strategic resources that provide us with direct access to cutting edge data on consumer markets, consumer behaviours, industry sectors, and advertising trends and expenditure. These include tools such as YouGov Reports, Foresight Factory (FFonline - UK/Global), IBISWorld, Euromonitor Passport, Watch Me Think, GWI, Bilendi, ALF/Brad Insight, and David Reviews. We have licensing agreements in place with our research suppliers that permit us to use select amounts of data and/or intelligence*
Where applicable we aim to formulate responses in PowerPoint (‘Insight Market Reports’ or ‘Insight Lite Reports’). Example requests that members have previously fielded to the team include:

How we work
Typically, we record individual requests in 0-90 minute slots – dealing with all member enquiries in order of receipt. The service is completely free to access for members and can be used as frequently as is desired. Our maximum turnaround time is 3 working days; however, in most instances we would expect to respond within 24 hours (depending on the complexity of a given brief). The more background detail and context you can give us, the more focused and relevant our response will be. We also acknowledge that our member agencies may be pitching against each other from time to time and therefore send in similar requests. Please rest assured that we treat every brief as an individual, confidential piece of work. Finally, we will do our best to respond to all briefs we receive, but will advise you if any requests are beyond our capabilities/resources.

An email is preferable as we will need to record requests onto the IPA system, though we are always happy to talk through your requirements in advance.
Members are always welcome to visit us in person if they would appreciate a summary (an 'Insight Refresher') of the service we provide, or we can happily visit you in your own offices if this is more convenient.
*If members wish to subscribe directly to some of the tools we ourselves subscribe to, or are interested in ad-hoc consultancy work/additional analysis, then please note that your status as an IPA member may qualify you for a discounted introductory rate.
