Advertising throws open its doors to fresh talent in nationwide industry careers day
Advertising Unlocked aims to attract people from all ages and skill sets, including school leavers, students, those returning to work and career switchers, to showcase the breadth and depth of careers available in adland.
Agencies across seven major cities will run bespoke sessions. For example, CHI&Partners are offering candidates an opportunity to work on a real advertising brief; Group M are providing visitors the opportunity to see what planning a media campaign looks like; LONDON Advertising will be giving their guests the chance to pitch for a full-time job; and BJL are teaming up with MediaCom Manchester to demonstrate the similarities and differences between creative and media agencies.
Says Sarah Golding, IPA President and CEO of CHI&Partners; “Advertising Unlocked is an important initiative – not only offering candidates from all backgrounds an introduction to the industry, but also giving agencies a chance to shake things up and fish beyond the usual pools for exciting new talent.”
Patrick Mills, Director of Membership and Professional Development, IPA, said; “If the industry is to stay at the top of its game, we must ensure that we attract and retain the very best, most diverse talent from potential apprentices to graduates and those looking at changing careers.
“Advertising Unlocked gives us the chance to tap into new talent that will help the industry ensure that it keeps up to speed with the constantly evolving digital and tech landscape to continue to deliver innovative and effective work,”
