De la Fosse and Walters head up IPA Best of Health judges

Emma de la Fosse, Chief Creative Officer at OgilvyOne, has been appointed as Chairman of Judges for the 2015 IPA Best of Health Show, recognised globally as one of the most coveted healthcare advertising awards. She will be joined by Convenor of Judges and original co-founder, Frank Walters, Executive Creative Director & Chairman, Frontera Group London.

The awards remain true to their guiding principle and are unique in being the only programme where work from around the world is judged by leading UK practitioners. Categories cover print, film, DM and digital, as well as multi-channel campaigns. As the IPA Best of Health Show enters its third decade, it looks to engage a new generation of creative talent in healthcare agencies. The Pip Award calls for responses to a live brief and can be entered by those aged under thirty.

The judging panel of leading industry experts includes:

Says Frank Walters 2015 Convenor of Judges, “As one of the original founders of the Best of Health show all those years ago, I am both delighted and honoured to be convenor in this 20th celebration year. Our original mission was to raise the standards of creative excellence by pushing the boundaries of convention. The world has clearly changed from brands being advertised on a page to brands forming social relationships. But the one thing that remains the same is creative courage and conviction. 20 years ago the creatives were brave within the World they knew, today fortune will continue to only favour the brave. It is therefore imperative that we continue to invest in talent and it is for this reason I’m also very excited about the PIP awards, a new way of recognising and showcasing young talent in our industry today”.

The 2015 IPA Best of Health Awards Scheme, is open for entries until 7th September 2015, via the online entry system.

New for 2015

  • The Pip Award

The Pip Award is open to under thirties as of 1st January 2015 working in both creative and non-creative roles in healthcare agencies.

  • The brief, set by the Angelus Foundation, calls for ideas to help the organisation communicate the dangers of ‘legal’highs.
  • All finalists will be showcased but the Pip Award will be given at the judge’s discretion.

About the 2014 Awards

Two agencies won the coveted Best of Show.

  • Langland - for advertising to healthcare professionals. The work was an integrated campaign for Idis. Its purpose was to raise awareness for the company that helps pharmaceutical companies connect physicians, pharmacists and patients with medicine that isn’t readily available.
  • Unit9  - for advertising to consumers. The work was a digital app for the ‘Life Saver’ initiative for Resuscitation Council UK. ‘Life Saver’ is a crisis simulator that can be accessed from a website or a mobile app. The simulator combines interactivity and film to teach life-saving CPR skills.

About Frank Walters

Frank began his career in advertising with stints at a number of consumer agencies including Wasey’s and Dorland. He then moved into healthcare advertising, joining Paling Ellis DDB as Creative Group Head. In the mid 90’s, when the agency became TBWA\Paling Walters, he was promoted to Creative Director where he worked on Rx brands including Canesten, Zantac and Viagra. He also worked extensively on OTC and consumer brands, producing over 15 TV commercials for brands including Canesten, Flixonase and Antistax. In 2011, he formed Frontera, a new health and wellbeing agency, with Craig Mills, where he holds the position of Executive Creative Director. In the 25 years he has spent in health communications he has won over 320 creative awards.

About Emma de la Fosse

Emma started her career as an advertising copywriter at Tilby and Leeves followed by stints at Bainsfair Sharkey Trott and Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters. Emma is currently Chief Creative Officer EAME for OgilvyOne, running a 60 strong creative department with Charlie Wilson. They have been champions of higher standards of creativity in the Direct and Digital industry since 2007. She is a regular face on the speaking and judging circuit and is among the UK’s top 10 creative directors.
