End of BBFC/CAA dual cinema ad regulation

The IPA would like to alert its members to a change in the regulation of all cinema ads in the UK.

07/04/2016

Following a Government consultation in 2012 on the regulation of cinema advertising, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has agreed, as of 1 April this year, to sub-contract the regulation of all cinema ads in the UK to the Cinema Advertising Association (CAA). Until now, cinema ads had to undergo dual clearance via both organisations.

The BBFC will retain its classification role for trailers, public information films, campaigning films and all theatrical works.

See CAA and BBFC for further details.
