Howell outlines issues for 2000
IPA President Rupert Howell outlined the key issues for the IPA in 2000 to a 300-strong audience of advertisers, agencies, media, government and suppliers at the annual President's Reception on 13th January.
Howell said the IPA will keep a close watch on the way media is developing with meetings with the DCMS on the future of the BBC; the ITV players on ownership; and Trinity Mirror on compensation for circulation irregularities on the Birmingham titles which the company took over.
He announced new industry reports will include a KPMG/CIA Medialab survey of finance directors, a joint study with ISBA on Payment By Results (PBR) and an update of the 1990 Baxter report on Women in Advertising.
Howell also drew everyone's attention to the biennial, and now international, IPA Advertising Effectiveness Awards which will be held at The Hilton on 7th November and said that IPA agencies could be proud that the IAA had chosen London for their international millennium conference in June.
