Three exceptional delegates from the 2016-2017 IPA Excellence Diploma, the highest qualification granted by the IPA, have had their inspiring essays on the future of brands and brand communications published in a Campaign magazine supplement.

Gareth Price, Senior Planner at JWT, Olivia Stubbings, Strategy Director at WCRS and Oliver Feldwick, Head of Strategy at CHI&Partners were awarded distinctions for their outstanding 5,000 word final assignments as part of the 2016-17 IPA Excellence Diploma.

In total the judges awarded three distinctions, eight credits and five passes for the final assignments, all of which are available to download here.

Price was also awarded the 2016/17 President’s Prize by IPA President Sarah Golding for his essay, Thinklong, at last month’s 2016-17 Excellence Diploma Graduation while Stubbings received the John Bartle Award for an Outstanding Body of Work.

In the qualification overall, marked across 4 essays and one presentation, four delegates received distinctions, 10 passed with credit while three delegates were awarded a pass. A full breakdown of 2016-17 IPA Excellence Diploma results and prizes can be found here.

Says Patrick Mills, Director of Membership and Professional Development, IPA; “The Excellence Diploma is the pinnacle of our qualifications programme and has once again produced some brilliant and thought provoking final essays. The IPA launched the Excellence Diploma in 2004, under the presidency of Stephen Woodford, to raise the real and perceived professionalism and value of marketing communications. Diploma modules cover: ‘What is a 21st Century Brand’; ‘How is a brand valued, and of value in the 21st century board room’; and ‘How should a brand engage in the 21st Century’. Candidates are given a mentor from their agency for support and to help them put the thinking into practice.
