IPA survey shows that 73% of client companies believe the UK will join Euro in next 5 years

The Q3 Bellwether Report, the quarterly survey of client spending intentions published today (15th October 2002) by NTC Research on behalf of the IPA, shows that 73% of companies believe that the UK will join the Euro in the next 5 years with 47% believing it will make their companies 'better off'.

The Q3 Bellwether Report, the quarterly survey of client spending intentions published today (15th October 2002) by NTC Research on behalf of the IPA, shows that 73% of companies believe that the UK will join the Euro in the next 5 years with 47% believing it will make their companies 'better off'.

The survey question asked:


Would your company be better off, worse off, or would it make no difference if the UK were to join the Euro?

Said Niall FitzGerald KBE, Chairman Unilever, London, about the IPA Bellwether Report’s findings:  "Yet further evidence that those who are in direct touch with consumers and the daily realities of economic life are clear about the benefits of the Euro".

Said Bruce Haines, Group CEO Leo Burnett and IPA President: "These findings clearly demonstrate that British marketers are unafraid of the Euro, with only those in retail showing any real ambivalence.  Room for thought for both sides I should think."
