Shaw’s direct marketing career spanned over three decades, starting in the charity sector with Oxfam and Barnardo’s before joining Smith Bundy & Partners as managing director in 1984. After thirteen years at Smith Bundy & Partners he had short stint at 141 which brought him into contact with Paul Kitcatt. It was in 2002 they launched Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw, with Nohr and Alexander, which he stayed with until 2014. Most recently he was chief executive of a consultancy that worked with agencies to provide business advice, mentoring, coaching and training.

Shaw was a big IPA supporter who was heavily involved with IPA initiatives on diversity and continuous professional development and was previously a member of the IPA Professional Development Group

A memorial event was held at his home in Chippenham on Friday 22 January.
