Paling Walters and Woolley Pau triumph at 2007 Best of Health Awards

Two ‘Best of Shows’ were awarded to Paling Walters and Woolley Pau last night (4th July) at the IPA 2007 Best of Health Awards and Summer Party at The Conservatory, Royal Hospital, Chelsea. The Best of Health Awards showcase and reward the best in creativity in healthcare advertising from all mediums including: press, poster, radio, TV, new and mixed media. From the 250 entries in this year’s competition, there were 3 gold, 39 silvers and 95 bronzes awarded as well as the two ‘Best of Show’ awards and special prizes for best use of art direction, photography, copywriting and illustration.

Two ‘Best of Shows’ were awarded to Paling Walters and Woolley Pau last night (4th July) at the IPA 2007 Best of Health Awards and Summer Party at The Conservatory, Royal Hospital, Chelsea.

The Best of Health Awards showcase and reward the best in creativity in healthcare advertising from all mediums including: press, poster, radio, TV, new and mixed media. From the 250 entries in this year’s competition, there were 3 gold, 39 silvers and 95 bronzes awarded as well as the two ‘Best of Show’ awards and special prizes for best use of art direction, photography, copywriting and illustration. The creative work will be published in a winners supplement by Pharmafocus magazine.

Paling Walters was awarded the ‘Best of Show Award for advertising to Healthcare Professionals’, for an execution in their campaign for Xenical, the prescription weight-loss medicine which is to be used in conjunction with a healthy diet. The press advertisement reveals the grim reaper cleverly disguised in a block of stilton with the strap line, ‘Lethal Obsession’.

Woolley Pau was awarded the ‘Best of Show Award for advertising to Consumers’, for their book ‘How to Pick up People at Parties and Other Tips for Marketing Executives’. The illustrated book, picked up a gold award in the consumer self-promotion category, contains chapters including ‘Discover your inner party animal’ and ‘Don’t risk the safe option.’

Says Dean Woolley, Founder, Woolley Pau and Convenor of Judges, “All agencies collecting a Best of Health Bronze, Silver or Gold can be justifiably proud of their achievements, as should anyone called up to receive one of the special awards for best of show, copywriting, art direction, illustration or photography. All these awards are tough to get.”

Says Tracey Brader, IPA Healthcare Consultant, “There was certainly no shortage of creativity in this year's 'Best of Health'. But the 'Best in Show' awards also reflected two basic tenets of advertising which we should all hold dear. The Xenical ad is a classic example of how campaigns benefit from longitudinal ideas; by developing and building a campaign over time so too is the brand. And 'How to pick up People at Parties and Other Tips for Marketing Executives’ perfectly illustrates why you don't need to take yourself too seriously to communicate a serious message. Would that all self promotion was so entertaining!”
