Summaries of winning campaigns and individuals:

Best Unfeatured Media Owner

Winner: Immediate Media

Since forming nearly five years ago Immediate Media has been on a journey of transformation. They combine a thriving print business whilst also developing a great digital offering for consumers and advertisers. Its focus on products, trading, insight, partnerships and innovation sees them now positioned as one of the most exciting media owners in the UK, offering advertisers access to a massive, engaged audience across a range of platforms.

Best Cross-Media Campaign

Winner: Instagram for Land Rover and Facebook

A pioneering partnership between Instagram, Mindshare, and our OOH media owner and sponsorship partners, took the mechanics of Instagram out into other media channels for the first time, to create a unique Land Rover lens on winter, and encourage people to get outside and spread the #Hibernot message. Over 10,000 #Hibernot photos were shared on Instagram. 61% of 25-44s living in urban centres said they would consider Land Rover for their next vehicle purchase.

Best Online Campaign

Winner: Collective for Avios ‘Do More’

Avios members understand that their points are a currency that must be spent if they are to be of any value, but something was holding them back. Collective were challenged to show Avios collectors that they were ignoring a great opportunity. Success meant increasing Avios customer satisfaction and engagement, through driving bookings and providing opportunities for ‘time well spent’ with their loved ones. The digital brand activity put dynamic creativity, intelligent use of data and effective brand measurement at the heart of the solution. The campaign not only increased customer engagement and satisfaction, it also resulted in an increase in bookings and in people signing up to collect Avios.

Highly Commended: Channel 4, All 4 Launch Partner for O₂ and Havas

Channel 4 invited O₂ to become their first ever launch partner of their entire digital estate. In doing so they created the opportunity to become the first brand to offer their customers exclusive 48 hour premiere access to the entire catalogue of their favourite C4 shows such as Made in Chelsea, Gadget Man, Fresh Meat, Peep Show and many more, all on through one click on the Priority app.

Highly Commended: Media iQ Digital, SCS - Digital Impact on Instore Visits for SCS & Epiphany Search

For this, their first-ever digital campaign, SCS needed tangible output in the form of increasing shop visitors and brand awareness to prove the value of digital ads. The combination of location-based segmentation, rich-media creatives and a high-scale brand uplift survey tool enabled unique insight on SCS customers which could inform future activity across the media mix. Media iQ helped SCS drive users to its 97 stores with an impressive footfall lift of 57% and 25% uplift in awareness of the SCS brand.

Best Technology

Winner: Trinity Mirror, Pinpoint

In 2015 Trinity Mirror launched pinpoint in beta to create a smarter local advertising solution for its nationwide advertiser base. Pinpoint is an app-mediated, hyper-local mobile platform that intelligently targets smartphone users with location-based advertising. The system enables advertisers to send geotargeted mobile messages, previewed in sponsored push notification, to a network of opted-in users, aggregated across their universe of national and regional app titles. The network currently comprises 28 titles including national brands such as The Mirror and the Daily Record, and regional powerhouses such as the Manchester Evening News.

Highly Commended: Channel 4 for BSkyB (Sky Sports)

Data has been at the heart of the Channel 4 digital strategy for many years, and its viewer database has now reached well over 13m. They have connected with their viewers and developed a personal relationship through their digital service All 4, which means they understand their needs, motivations and interests. After extensive development, in 2015 they launched the first personalised VOD ad format in the market; Ad 4 You. The technology permits them to serve, at scale, video advertising personalised by a user’s name, location, personal interests, gender, age and even by factors including current weather conditions.

Fikret’s achievements in such a short space of time are outstanding. His contribution to the business is unique as he manages to juggle a sound understanding of commercial pressures whilst considering the technical capabilities of products. Asking people across the business how they would describe Fikret in one word they responded with: “irreplaceable” “vital” “productive” and “valuable”.
